Things to do in St. Augustine

St. Augustine sits about two hours northeast of Orlando via I-4 and I-95, and it rewards a full day or, better, an overnight stay. Founded in 1565, it is the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the United States, and the layout still shapes the visit: a walkable historic core around St.

George Street, the coquina-stone Castillo de San Marcos facing the bay, a district of late-19th-century Flagler hotel architecture, and Anastasia Island's beaches across the bridge. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable weather; summer is humid and busy; late November through January fills the streets with nightly lights.
